'Jiwa Merdeka' Exhibition This August
KUALA LUMPUR, July 30 (Bernama) -- In conjunction with the National Day and Malaysia Day 2024 celebrations, renowned fine artist Lui Cheng Thak will unveil his latest series, ‘Jiwa Merdeka’, at the Pinkguy Gallery here from Aug 8 to 30.
The exhibition will showcase Malaysia’s cultural and architectural heritage, reflecting the 2024 official theme and aligning with the government’s commitment to national development and unity.
According to Liu, this series portrays Malaysia’s historical journey by blending the rich heritage of the nation’s iconic buildings with the modernity of the Merdeka 118 tower, symbolising Malaysia’s progress and modernity.
“Jiwa Merdeka is more than an art exhibition. It is a narrative that connects Malaysia’s past, present and future,” he said in a statement here today.
The Negeri Sembilan-born artist is well-known for his detailed and evocative representation of historical architecture, particularly the old shophouses and street scenes of Kuala Lumpur, Melaka and Penang.
The ‘Jiwa Merdeka’ exhibition will be open to the public every day except Sunday, from 11 am to 6 pm. Admission is free.
